New Additions!

So my best friends Uncle, whom I've known for 25 years, just became a 1st time Grandpa! He has asked me to build a crib for his grandson for when he visits. I'm so excited to be building another crib (I built both of my girls' cribs) and hope this can become an heirloom to be handed down the generational line.

Here is a rendering of what I am going to build. It is similar to my oldests' crib, but he wanted a solid back. It is going to be built out of solid Red Oak. Progress photos added as I go!

Wine Glass Caddy

Looking for a great Christmas gift? This little glass caddy fits over most wine bottles and can hold 4 glasses. Great, inexspensive gift for a Christmas/New Years party host! $12 each (does not include wine bottle or glasses!) 6"x6"x3/4" Available in a multitude of woods: Red Oak, Maple, Hickory (pictured), Walnut, Cherry, Ash, whatever I have laying around!

An old friend got tired of his extenstions and punches rolling all over his toolbox. So he called me up and asked for something simple to keep his tools in over. I grabbed some scrap red oak and jointed them together and using a 1/2" cove router bit, cut little flutes for the tools to lay in. I left some room at the top for any future tools he may want to add.  I then applied 3 coats of General Finishes Arm-R-Seal Urethane Topcoat in Semi-Gloss to give it a great but cleanable surface.

Let me start off by saying Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife of 10 years!

 Started a new project this week for a friend of mine. She wanted a bench that she could store her 31 utility totes in, to keep her daughters room clean. Did some CAD work and came up with this. Nothing too fancy, but very functional. Using 1/2" sanded ply keeps it light, but using biscuit joinery and glue makes it very sturdy. A couple coats of paint and it will be ready for years of use and abuse!

Overall dimenstions are 56"w x 24"h x 14"d

Welcome to the Midwest! Woke up this morning @ 6:30, sat on the back patio with my cup of Joe to a bit of a chill in the air. Things got a little warmer, up to 80 degrees in the house, then came the storm and the temp dropped down to 60!
Good news is I got some lacquering done today. Took quite a bit of time to tape off all those panes of glass! Just have to do the back of the doors and she is finished!
Cant wait to deliver it to the customer. She has not seen any pictures, so this could be adventurous! I hope she likes it! If not, I've had a few other offers for it!

Fall Cleanup

My poor shop. When you get in the thick of a project, order goes out the window and chaos ensues. Tools everywhere, sandpaper discs on the floor, LEAVES in every nook and crannie. Time to bust our the broom (and dust mask!). I spent 2 hours tonight vacuuming, dusting & wiping down the big tools. Was going to start putting lacquer on the Distressed Display Cabinet doors & shelves, but little black bugs were flying everywhere, and would get stuck in the finish. I guess the warm weather the last few days brought them out of hibernation. BOO. Ah well, as the French say, "C'est la vie".
